December 13, 2025 will be an unforgettable day for the people of Pelengana. Today the village authorities, the government representative, youth representatives, representatives of women’s collectives, medical staff and a large crowd of local residents came out in massive numbers to demonstrate their joy at the health center’s newfound access to power.

Immediate tangible impact

After 33 years of operating without stable electricity, the Pelengana Community Health Center has now been equipped with a 75 kWh solar system providing reliable 24/7 electricity for lighting, climate control, digital record keeping and essential medical equipment. They’ve already switched their vaccine fridge on, and look forward to regular usage of other equipment such as their printer, computer, hematology analyser, centrifuge, powered microscope and neonatal infant warmer.

Previously, as there is no utility grid connection in Pelengana, the health center relied on an old, malfunctioning petrol generator for limited access to power during high demand periods. However their consumption of fossil fuels are now a thing of the past. With the need for power full met by solar and batteries, the health center is saving USD$14,850 per year on the purchase of petrol.

A grateful community

At the request of village authorities, the mayor of the commune of Pelengana awarded two certificates of recognition to ADER-COV and its partner Future Energy Global AG for this social impact project. An honorary certificate from the community such as this is a strong signal of the demand for electricity for regional areas.

Beyond solar – promoting equity and inclusion

However this project has tangible impact that goes beyond health care. Through access to solar energy, this project reduces pressure on 1,000 hectares of native trees in the region that are in the process of being deforested.

Our creative thinking allowed us to evaluate and realign our strategies for promoting equity and inclusion to create a space that reflects a sustainable future. The speakers at the ceremony all asked to hear the installations so that thousands of households can benefit from stable electricity in their families. Many thanks to our partner Future Energy Global AG/Grow Token
